About Barbara & Presentation Dynamics

Barbara is the president of Presentation Dynamics, where she teaches people the dynamics of how to present themselves better. Since 1990, she has designed and conducted professional development training workshops and coaching sessions. Her primary offerings are:

Her flagship training is The Compelling Speaker program, a unique presentation skills workshop that combines advance audio CD instruction with the hands-on workshop. She is now offering a Certification program at www.compellingspeakercertification.com to train others to make a living in the training business by conducting the Compelling Speaker workshop.

Education

Barbara has her Master’s degree in Speech Communication from Georgia State University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree cum laude in Journalism from the University of Georgia, where she received several awards and honors, including being named Outstanding Senior of the Year in her major.

She has received professional training from the Association for Psychological Type, which qualified her to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and from the Professional Image Institute in Atlanta, which certified her in image and etiquette consulting.

Career

She has 30 years of business communication experience, including, aside from being an entrepreneur with her own training firm:

  • communication consultant and trainer for a small business
  • corporate employee in advertising, marketing, and public relations
  • college instructor in speech communication and journalism

Her skills in written and verbal communication have won her awards from organizations such as the International Association of Business Communicators, the American Advertising Federation, the Public Relations Society of America, and Women in Communications, Inc.

With a focus on topics about presentations/communication/professional presence, she speaks often, from luncheon speeches to keynote presentations to radio interviews; and writes often, including a monthly column on “People Skills” that ran in the Charlotte Business Journal for six years; countless newspaper, magazine and ezine contributions; her own e-newsletter, Stand Out Strategies; and her award-winning book, Stand Out When You Stand Up—An A to Z Guide to Powerful Presentations. www.hofferawards.com

Barbara has trained thousands of business executives and professionals nationwide.
